VERMONT

Meet your chapter leader: Britt Richardson, she/her

What does body liberation mean to you? Body liberation in the outdoors for me means being able to enjoy nature and the pursuit of wellbeing without being confined by body image concerns or feelings of self-doubt. It's also about knowing we are all worthy of exploring nature and taking up space. I aim to create a welcoming community free of sizeism, anti-fat bias or discrimination of any kind where all bodies can gather to enjoy Vermont's amazing natural beauty.

Important information to know? Members can expect a variety of terrain on our hikes - from woodsy paths to paved bike paths - as well as glorious vistas even when there's not much vertical rise (bonus!). Mountains, rolling hills, lakes, ponds, waterfalls and rivers will all be a part of our hiking season. Dressing in layers is essential, as we may encounter a range of temperatures on some hikes, bugs, sun, wind, etc. Proper footwear, a hat, bug spray, sunscreen, hiking poles (if desired), water, small towel/handkerchief, and snacks are all helpful for making our outings enjoyable.
